The Präau Hochalm in Dorfgastein is located at 1808m, on the western side of the valley and directly on the Salzburg Almenweg. The hut is already 150 years old, beautifully preserved and is still managed very traditionally in the summer months. There is a playground for the children and of course there are lots of animals on the pasture.
There are several paths to the Präau Hochalm, mostly by car towards Unterberg, half way towards the Strohlehenalm and on to the forest barrier where you can park your car. Then it is a leisurely walk on the forest path to the alpine pasture for about two hours. The Präau Hochalm is also a popular destination for mountain bikers, around 1000m altitude difference to be overcome before you can enjoy the delicacies of the alpine hut.
The opening times of the alpine huts are approximate times, changes can occur here at any time!
Open (weather permitting):
End of June to mid-September
